I had actually, completely unintentionally, stayed up until 3am talking to Benedict last night. I just wasn't tired. Then I had to check my email and stuff, so I didn't get to bed until about 4. Because of that, I didn't wake up until almost 2. Which was perfect because that's when Rohan texted me that he was done with his special lunch thing at church if I wanted to climb Black Mountain. I got myself out of bed, looked outside, and checked the forecast. Despite being exhausted, it was a beautiful day and I knew that the chances of me getting another beautiful day on the weekend before I leave was slim to none since it's winter and the weather is getting more grey and/or rainy. We made plans for him to get here around 3. That gave me enough time to actually finish waking up and eat something.
Then we went to the mountain. I had looked up how to get to the trail, but evidently I suck at reading a map. Ok, I already knew that, but this reaffirmed it. While we found where I was trying to get, you can't actually get to that path by walking. You have to drive up there and there was no side walk. Thankfully Rohan knows how to read a map and we were able to use his phone to find another way to the trail.
Turns out that we were pretty much as far from another point of entry to the trail as you can be. We had to walk quite a long way and ended up going to CSIRO to find a path. The GPS on his phone was telling us to go through a part of the road that said authorised vehicles only. We figured that just meant for cars, so after nearly turning around, we decided to just go through there and see if there was any way to the trail.
Luckily we found it. At this point, however, I felt like I was going to die already. I am so out of shape that it's not even funny. But I pushed myself to keep going. The trail was really freakin' steep and I swear that I was stopping every 10ft because I would start hyperventilating. Rohan says I did better than that, but it was a lot! He did a great job of pushing me, or rather pulling me, to get to the top. I say pulling because most of the way he grabbed my hand and was helping to pull me up the mountain and preventing me from giving up. I'm so glad that he did.
The view from the top of the mountain was awesome! We didn't actually go in Telstra Tower because 1. it cost money and 2. we didn't have much time as the sun was already setting and we wanted to get home, or at least back to the ground, before it got dark. But, I did walk around and take some pictures. I was so incredibly proud of myself and I know that I couldn't have done it without Rohan's support. I'm so lucky to have such an awesome boyfriend.
When we got back, I was so sore. So unbelievable sore. It was about 6, but I just went straight to church anyway and sat inside. I knew that if I sat somewhere else, especially if I went home, I wouldn't get up and go to church. Rohan left me there to go and catch the bus home.
Church was good. This was the second of a three week talk on forgiveness. I also got to meet Daniel's girlfriend, Sarah. Daniel is Rohan's age and they kind of grew up together and he just transferred to ANU this year, so now he and Sarah are in a long distance relationship. She's visiting from Perth for the next couple of weeks and Friday we're all going to another one of Rohan's friend's place for dinner or something. I also had a few other interesting conversations with people and then we had a meeting for CIF's Christmas in July. I volunteered on working on decorations. Hopefully that will give me something to do. Plus I've done two Yule Balls during Hope, so I know how to decorate for Christmas when it isn't Christmas!
I don't remember what I did when I got home, but I was exhausted and went to bed before 12.
Chronicles of my life- starting as an ANU student to my struggles to get back for my wedding to the start of the next chapter of life!

The one time I make plans... it rains!
So I had made plans that we were going to go climb Black Mountain. I had wanted to ever since I got to Canberra. It's just always there. But, it was forecasted to possibly rain a little bit. When I woke up, I looked outside. The ground was wet and the sky was completely overcast. I then checked the BOM website and saw that there was a 90% chance of rain the rest of the day. So, that called for a change of plans. Rohan likes the rain, so he didn't care, but it wasn't very photographic outside.
I texted him and we decided to go to see a movie. He suggested Despicable Me 2 or Monsters University. Since I hadn't seen the first Despicable Me yet, we went to see Monsters University. I thought it was really good, but Rohan didn't understand a lot of the references to things to do with the frats and sororities because that's American university culture, not Australian.
After the movie, we stopped by the Belconnen Library, which is right across the street from Rohan's flat, to check out the centenary cakes. They were pretty cool. I love watching cake decorating shows, so I get really excited to actually see them in person. There were also some cocoa paintings on fondant that were also incredible.
Then we went back to Rohan's place. We were having pizza, so he had to make the dough right away so that it could rise. I just played Animal Crossing while he did that. He also made a ton of toppings and stuff. He's a Currie. Pizza night is not a simple thing in their family!
When we ate dinner, we watched Despicable Me. Rohan had talked to his mum earlier in the day and she suggested that got it on his Xbox and we watched it over dinner. It was pretty good. I never wanted to watch it before because I always thought that the minions would annoy me beyond all possibility. The commercials made them seem like much more prominent characters than they actually are!

I made plans!
I played Animal Crossing. I slept. I showered. I figured out what Rohan and I are going to do tomorrow. We're going to climb Black Mountain and then go see the centenary cakes in Belconnen. These posts are starting to remind me of my blog when I was studying abroad at Murdoch and my family kept reading them and yelling at me to go and do stuff. Ugh.

The only way to cancel a loan is to die.
I was exhausted today. I didn't do much besides sleep. At least I just finished my exit counselling for my student loans. That was important since they are due on the first of July. I had to email the financial aid office here that I completed them, so I wanted to do it tonight because they won't be checking their email over the weekend and the first is on Monday. The exit counselling was a lot shorter than I thought it would be. I think it may be because when I did them last year, for my undergrad loans, I had to do multiple ones or something. I'm not sure. It just sucked because they are so obvious (pay your student loan or we will hunt you down) and the only part that would be helpful would be the budgeting part, but you need to know how much you expect to spend and how much you expect to be earning in a year. I don't have a job, and I can't really get a full time job now anyway, so I have no way of knowing that, so I just made up numbers so that I could submit it.

Some things you don't want to dream about
I didn't do much. I kind of felt like crap. I took a nap around noon and dreamed that I was vomiting uncontrollably. I then woke up to ridiculous stomach pains. They felt like I really had been throwing up, although thankfully I hadn't. That would have been a mess to clean up and I don't have any laundry detergent since I haven't been to the store since I ran out. I've had very similar dreams, with the vomiting although the rest of the dream was different, other times and I always wake up with extreme abdominal pain. I was planning on going to the store today, since it was the first day it wasn't extremely windy or rainy in about a week, but I just felt too sick. Instead, I just went down to SPAR and grabbed a few things to eat. I spent the rest of the day in bed playing Animal Crossing

Some more adventures
I spent the morning and early afternoon as all of my other days. It was extremely windy outside. It almost sounded like thunder because it was so loud. It was another reason to stay inside because I didn't want to get blown away!
At 4, I went to Lena Karmel to meet with Helen and Micaiah. I had told them on Sunday that I wanted to go around Canberra and take pictures during my time before I head back to the United States. We decided to meet today to go take pictures. They are both really into photography and have DSLR cameras, so my camera felt a little silly, even though I love it! Micaiah drove us down to the parliament area of town. We took pictures by a bunch of seagulls and then chased the sun to get good sunset pictures and went by the lake to get more sunset pictures and went under the bridge. Helen kept complaining about the walking when we walked back to the car from the first two areas. It seemed a lot farther than it did when we were walking there, although that was because it was split up by the first stop. It was weird to me to not be the one complaining about walking. Instead, my lungs were practically crying tears of joy from breathing in cool, fresh air.
After the photography adventures, I went home and made hot chocolate with almond extract. That's the best kind of hot chocolate! I also spent the rest of the night playing Animal Crossing and eating dinner.

My few accomplishments replace the abstract
Accomplishments of today: I went to the doctor. I went to SPAR. Rohan came over for date night.
I didn't do much this morning besides sleep and play Animal Crossing. However, in the afternoon, I had a doctor's appointment. I ran out of refills for my anti-depressants, so I had to go get my prescription renewed and have them fix it so that I would be able to get a few months worth so that I definitely won't run out before I am able to go get a new prescription from my doctor in the US. I was running kind of late to the appointment, so I didn't grab my DS. I was sad when I got there and the girl that I was sitting next to was playing Animal Crossing. I could have street passed her! (First World Problems)
I then went to SPAR on my way home to pick up a few things. It was raining, so I didn't want to go all the way to Supabarn as I was originally planning. Of course I've been "planning" on going to the store for over a week and it still hasn't happened. Anyway, since it was raining, the bottoms of my jeans were all wet so I put them on the heater when I got home. I forgot to take them off at some point, so when Rohan was coming into town, I grabbed them off the heater and put them on right away. They were HOT! Now, I love the heat and putting on a jumper straight out of the dryer is one of the best feelings ever, but these were even too hot by my standards. I guess it probably didn't help that my belt was still in them when I put them on the heater and therefore the metal of my belt was pretty much scalding hot.
When Rohan got here, we went to Pancake Parlour. I got cheese and potato pancakes with bacon. Rohan helped me decide since he wanted to try that one. He wished that he had told me to get the other one because then he would have gotten that one. Haha. We also split a dessert of a pancake with spiced cinnamon apples and ice cream. Then we went to Meet Fresh so Rohan could get a dessert there. He's so obsessed!
After the second dessert, we went back to my place and played Animal Crossing together. Rohan was playing the "chase Caitlin around the island and try to hit her with a net, shovel, or axe" game. The game doesn't actually affect the other person if you try to do that, but it was amusing him. He also did scare away some of the bugs or fish that I was trying to catch, though. It was a pretty fun night.

Pokemon battle between Micaiah and Helen
Last night I could not fall asleep. For some reason, I kept having thoughts running through my head and I had to go and write them down. I turned on my computer at about 4am and just kept typing until all of the thoughts that I could remember were written down. It was almost 5am by the time I went back to bed. What I wrote was basically a long essay (?; for lack of a better term) of why I like Australia so much and why I don't like America. People always ask me that and I finally wrote down my reasonings. I may end up posting it on here one day, but I'm not sure. I haven't look at it since I wrote it.
Anyway, since I could not sleep last night, I had a really hard time waking up. Yesterday, I had written down a list of things that I had to do today. I barely did any. I still haven't gone to the store yet. At least I took out my trash. It was starting to smell. But I also showered and caught up with my blog and made food and went to church. I guess the only thing that I haven't done yet is go to the store. It's a good thing that I have a lot of pasta and cheese here.
So church was good. We started our first of a three week topic of forgiveness. We discussed the part of the Bible where Jesus says to forgive seventy times seven times, which makes me think of the Chris August song that I love, which is the reason that I started listening to him. That passage also has the parable of the king forgiving his servants debts, that are unpayable, and then goes the servant goes and throws someone that owes him money, a much smaller amount, into jail. It especially hits home for me because of all of the student debt that I have incurred, but I know that it is the small amount considering the vastness of what God has forgiven.
Since I never leave my room, I decided to stay after church and talk to people. Usually I just go home because I'm tired. We did something really nerdy. Four of us were talking and then someone left so it was just the three of us. Someone pointed out that we always change shape then, as in we were a square and now were a triangle. Then we tried to position ourselves so that we could make our feet be the angles of an equilateral triangle. Then when the fourth person came back, we made a square, and as more people joined we made a pentagon, a hexagon, and a heptagon. Yeah, we're nerds.
Then we, as in Helen, Micaiah, John, and myself, went to Meet Fresh. I don't like it, but I just went to hang out. I need to actually do stuff outside of my room. At some point, the conversation became about pokemon. I think it was because Helen said that she can't judge me for the amount of Animal Crossing I've played when she's been watching a similar amount of pokemon. Then she was asking the guys which type of pokemon they prefer. Micaiah said grass but she likes the water ones. They then said that they'd need to have a pokemon battle to settle it. That would be interesting.
After that, I went home and didn't do much. I tried to go to bed at 12ish because I was tired, but as soon as I turned the light off, I couldn't sleep again. It's so frustrating. But hey, at least I now wrote my blog post and I also got an email about getting free Swarovski earrings, you just have to pay for shipping (which was less than $6), so I ordered those. I made sure to have them sent to Rohan, though. I don't want unilodge to lose yet another parcel of mine!

I'm a millionaire! If only I could use my Animal Crossing bells to pay off student loans!
I slept and played Animal Crossing pretty much all day. But hey, I helped Gulliver, a sailor animal that washes up on shore every once in a while, to figure out that he was going to Australia. That means that I'll get a present tomorrow. I also made it to 1 million bells in my account on Animal Crossing, which means that I'll get a new badge for being a millionaire. Yay!

Having fun without being judged by 12 year olds!
Abstract:
I was actually productive and did a few errands around campus. I went to Questacon's SciNight with Rohan and Bec.
I probably spent the morning alternating between sleeping and Animal Crossing, but I knew that I had to turn in my form for renting my graduation attire today because it was the last day to get the early bird deal, which was $10 off when you order all three items. Anyone that knows me well knows that I never miss an opportunity to save money. I was glad that I had checked out the forms last night to realise that there was an early bird deal and it ended today.
I had asked Karemah where it was that I had to go turn in this form, and I was glad that I did. It just said that it was in the student union, but I never would have found the office if she hadn't told me sort of where it was. She told me to go left when I got up the stairs. It was a cafe, so I was really confused. I looked around and saw a sign, which I had never paid attention to before, that said that the offices were through the cafe. It seemed weird to me. But, I went through the cafe then out the other doors and it was through another set of doors out there. It seemed like the most random place and I'm not sure if there's another way to get there. It was weird. But I turned in my form and got the discount. Yay!
Then since I was already out and on campus, I decided to do a couple of other things. I finally went to the ATM, since I had no cash and it was annoying me. I also went to get my prescription refilled. Since it was my last refill, I also went to the health centre to make an appointment to get my prescription renewed. I figured I might as well actually go in to make an appointment instead of just calling. I really hate using the phone, a trait that I inherited from my mom.
I went back home for a quick nap before going to Questacon. When I woke up, I had realised that I hadn't eaten anything and I was going to be out for a long time and I was already hungry. I stopped by SPAR to grab a chocolate bar before meeting Bec at the bus stop. It was nice to see Bec. We hadn't seen each other since probably the first few weeks of the semester. We were originally supposed to do something with Janice, as Bec was going home the next day, but then Rohan said that this event was going on a Questacon and I wanted to go to that so I invited Bec and Janice. However, Janice was in Queanbeyan for her research thing until pretty late and was too tired to join us when she got back.
Bec and I grabbed the bus and went to Questacon together. We were going to meet Rohan there. SciNight was a lot of fun. It's a night where Questacon is only open to those 18 and over. It was funny when the girl where we bought our tickets checked our IDs and they were all from different states so she had to look around for the birthdays. This year's theme was food and it was a lot of fun. In addition to all of the normal exhibits, they had a few extra things set up. They had three shows. One about making coffee, one about brewing beer, and one about the science of taste. We went to the first and last one. It's always really hilarious to see Rohan at something to do with coffee. He gets so excited! They gave us quite large "sample" beans at the end, too. I gave Rohan mine. One of the perks of having a girlfriend who doesn't drink coffee. At least I'm getting more used to the smell, which is probably because it now reminds me of Rohan not because I actually like the smell. (The title comes from before the show when one of the guys in charge of the event was asking us all questions and said that we can have fun tonight without being judged by 12 year olds, not that it ever stopped Rohan and I from having fun here!)
Then we went around the other exhibits. It was Bec's first time at Questacon, so she was really excited. Bec and Rohan both tried the 360 Swing. I didn't bother trying it since 1) I knew it would make me dizzy and likely sick to my stomach and 2) there was NO WAY I had the strength to get it even close to going 360. It was fun to watch people do it. Bec didn't quite make it over, but she did get pretty high. Rohan made it over a few times. They were both pretty sore the rest of the night. Bec and I also got facepaint from Dr. Scar. It was pretty awesome. The story that Bec told Dr. Scar to make a wound for was that Frankenstein attacked her. Mine was that a tiger attacked me.
When we got about half way through, we went to the last show. It was by the same guy that did the rocket show when Rohan and I went to Questacon last month. Rohan was kind of sad that the guy wasn't actually Russian, which was his character from the last one. That show was much more interesting to me, as I really don't care about coffee. It was all about the sense of taste and the science behind it and the ability to trick your tastebuds. He also talked about supertasters and non-tasters and how they have different amounts of tastebuds and are more or less picky, respectively. Now I want to do that thing where you spray your tongue blue and see how many tastebuds you have and compare it with Rohan. Although I know that I'm not a supertaster because he said that they avoid spicy foods and I LOVE them!
After the show, we went up to the "Q lab" area, which was set up to make liquid nitrogen ice cream. It was actually my first time having it, which is surprising judging from how nerdy I am! It actually looked more like frosting than ice cream. They made it with lime milk. Apparently lime milk is some promotional thing as it's actually called Raiders lime milk. (the Raiders are the rugby team in Canberra) I was mostly intrigued to try the ice cream because it was made with lime milk. What the heck is that? It was actually REALLY good. The ice cream tasted just like a lime creamsicle. I totally would buy that ice cream if they sold it.
Another thing in the Q lab was a keyboard made of vegetables. It was the weirdest thing! I played a zucchini! That was pretty awesome. We didn't have much time to mess around with that because it was then closing time. We decided to walk back to the city. It was obviously Rohan's idea. He hadn't eaten dinner either, so we were going to look for a place to eat on our way back. We didn't have much time, so Rohan got desperate because he was really hungry. He was so desperate that he actually got McDonald's. It was quite funny going there because people kept doing double takes at Bec and I. One guy just kept on staring. When Rohan was done eating, we went to the bus stop across the street and then parted ways. When Bec and I were then walking back to home, more people kept looking at us funny. Then as one guy passed us, he said "Whoa, are you ok?" I just kind of laughed and told him that it was just face paint.
Then I got home and was cold and tired so I curled up in my sleeping bag, played a little Animal Crossing, and went to bed.

Just another Thursday
I played Animal Crossing. I showered and it was dark by the time my hair got dry, it was too cold to walk outside with wet hair, so I was only able to go to SPAR to get some food to hold me over until I make it to Supabarn. I finished washing all of the dirty dishes. I watched the Meet the Top 20 episode of SYTYCD because I forgot to watch it yesterday.

I left my flat today!
Not only did I leave my flat, but I left twice! That alone is a great accomplishment. First I went to meet Bron at Manning Clark. It's for a secret that I probably shouldn't post on my blog even though I doubt that the person it is a secret from will read my blog post today. I also went to SPAR when I was heading home so that I could get some food. I intended on going to the store after I ate said food, but that ended up not happening, so I still don't really have much food. At least I'm looking a recipes tonight so I know what to go and buy.
On my way back into Davey, I stopped by the front desk to inquire about the parcel that I was supposed to have received two weeks ago, but never did. Apparently they aren't very smart at the front desk and relabeled it to the wrong room number. Not just once. No. It has the wrong number, crossed out, and another wrong number written on there two times! No wonder I never received it! I'm guessing a similar thing may have happened with Rohan's birthday present that never arrived, however that was sent internationally and had no tracking number. I've learned my lesson to just have anything that I need to order online shipped to Rohan's place. Too bad I didn't learn this until a month before I need to leave!
I played some Animal Crossing and took a nap before going to the Sax Oration. The Sax Oration, named after Sidney Sax, is a public health talk held every year at ANU. This year was a special one because it was part of Canberra's centenary events. That's how I heard about it. I met up with Karemah to attend. We were kind of really confused about where it was supposed to take place. The website said in the Innovations theatre, but the location on the google maps on the website did not match up with the ANU website location. I guess that the ANU one was correct. I literally passed the Innovations building a couple of times a week last semester, but I never gave it any thought. We met at the "green building" at 5:15, hoping that we were early enough to find it, and it was literally across a street, a parking lot, and another street. We got there only to discover that the refreshments thing started at 5:30, not the talk. We got there rather early. But, better early than late! The talk was alright. It was not what I was really expecting. The abstract on the internet sounded really interesting, but it wasn't all that interesting. He spent about half of the talk just talking about the history of public health and then it got interesting right before he ended. Every time I go to these kinds of things, they're always really boring because they literally have it written out and read word for word and don't engage with the audience. Is it just because I'm used to lectures in a class rather than public talks? I'm not sure. I just find it incredibly boring when they are literally just reading word for word from something they wrote earlier.
Karemah gave me a ride home after, which was really nice because it was so cold. We weren't sure how to get back to Davey by driving, so we thought we'd be going on an adventure. We didn't. We literally just drove down one road which lead us to the street in front of SPAR. Worst. adventure. ever! haha After I got home, I just played Animal Crossing, looked up some recipes so I can buy food, and that was it!

Even small tasks are accomplishments when you're on break!
I again spent most of the day playing Animal Crossing. But, to justify that it was raining, so I didn't want to leave to take pictures or go to the store or anything. I really hope that it doesn't rain tomorrow, though, because I really need food. I also finished putting my laundry away. Yes, I do consider that an accomplishment.
I also found out that the stuff that I ordered about two weeks ago was indeed shipped and the tracking info said it was delivered on the 5th. However, I still have not gotten it. I'll have to talk to unilodge about it tomorrow and then try to track it down. It probably went the same place that Rohan's birthday present went that never got delivered. At least this one was from Australia and has a tracking number! I seriously don't know why I can't ever order something online and have it sent here. I always get the packages that my parents send and I got all of the stuff that Rohan had sent to my place before he got his place. What the heck am I doing wrong? I literally checked the address that I gave them against the one from the package that my parents sent that I got a couple of days before. It's really frustrating.

Rohan loves me until there's a shark on Animal Crossing!
I basically spent the entire day lying in bed and playing Animal Crossing. Well, at least the morning and early afternoon. In the afternoon, I also did my laundry and washed some of the dishes. We have a ton of dirty dishes so I didn't get through all of them. Plus, I just need to clean everything in the kitchen. It's disgusting. I can't wait to move out in about a month! At least Benedict isn't here this week and Clyde doesn't cook, so I don't have to worry about anyone else messing up the kitchen while I try to clean it. We also got our biostats grades. I got a HD in the class. Now I just have to wait for the policy grade, but I'm pretty sure that we won't get that until 5 July, which is when the final grades are due to the university.
Today was also date night. I went to Belconnen since I have absolutely nothing to do and so the bus rides don't bother me. Rohan was at Westfield when I got there, so I met him there. He said that he was in Coles, so I walked that way. I guess that he saw me before I saw him and hid because he jumped out from behind a pole and nearly gave me a heart attack! It was especially weird because he was wearing his jumper! Apparently he had forgotten that he owned one. I guess that's the reason that he wears shorts instead of pants, he doesn't want to go buy pants when he already has shorts. He's a strange human being!
Since we were already out, we decided to just eat somewhere there instead of going back to get his coupon book thingy. We ended up going to Nando's. I like Nando's. Then we went back to Rohan's place and basically played more Animal Crossing until I went home. We also talked and stuff, but we're both kind of obsessed with Animal Crossing. Oh and the title comes from the fact that I had put my game away for a bit and I was just hugging Rohan while he played. Then he told me that he loved me and not even two seconds later he kind of threw me to the side so he could focus on catching a shark that just appeared. The way that sounds when I say it is horrible, but it was actually quite funny. Sharks are rare in the game and they are worth a lot. It's totally acceptable to do that!
Then I went home and that was basically it.

Daily blogging is going to get old pretty quickly during my break!
I wrote this post and then it deleted itself or never posted or something strange. At least it was a short one, so I don't have much to remember.
Today was one of those days that no matter how much I thought that I should get out of bed, I was just unable. I couldn't even stay awake enough to just lay in bed and play Animal Crossing. I didn't actually wake up until like 2:30 or something and even then I was just too tired to do anything other than lie in my bed and play Animal Crossing. I also watched an episode of Sugar Dome and ate. Nothing too exciting. Hopefully I'll get over this exhaustion in the next few days and actually be able to do something more interesting for my blogs!

A night of celebrating
I went over to Rohan's place today. Since Animal Crossing just came out in Australia (I got mine before because my 3DS is from America and they had an earlier release date, so I could get it and download via the nintendo shop), we spent all day playing it "together." It's on the DS, so it's not really together, but we did spend time in each other's towns and stuff. It was fun. Animal Crossing sounds like it'd be a really dumb game from describing it, but I'm kind of really obsessed with fishing and then selling them. He also taught me what I should actually be doing, with donating things to the museum instead of just selling everything. I didn't really think about how I might only be able to get some a couple of times.
For dinner, we went back to the city. My parents messaged me the other day and said that they wanted us to go out to celebrate that I got Top Student in epi, so it was their treat. I wanted steak, so I found a steakhouse in the city. We had to walk around London Circuit to get there. Rohan and I were joking that we were walking to London and I said that I wanted to go see the Broad Street pump, as in the famous one from John Snow and the cholera outbreak. Rohan said that he loved that I was such a nerd. To which, I replied that I don't just want to see that, I want to see Platform 9 3/4, too! Apparently that's still nerdy! Although they are different types of nerdy.
The place that we went to eat was called Locanda. It's an Italian steakhouse and it was part of a hotel. I got a rib eye with garlic aioli and potato puree. It also came with a head of roasted garlic. It was SO GOOD. Garlic aioli is like my new favourite food. Seriously, I love it and it was so good on steak! Rohan got an ox scotch fillet with salsa verde. After dinner, we went to go get gelato at Gelato Joe's for dessert. That part was Rohan's treat. I got strawberry. It was also really good. Rohan got coffee gelato, so I didn't try his. Coffee and coffee flavoured things are the only ones that he doesn't try to make me try. After dessert, we went back to my place for a bit.
After Rohan went home, I went online. I had talked to my family about doing a google hangout together now that I finished my exams and classes, but we hadn't come up with a time. But my parents were on chat and so we decided to do a hangout then. They were in Sandusky, so Jillian and her family were also on their video. It was a lot of fun talking to them. Then Jillian and my mom left to go to the Farmer's Market, so I just talked to my dad for a while, the kids aren't really in to this whole video chat thing. It was weird just talking to my dad because he almost always leaves after like 5-10 minutes. After a bit, Jacki woke up and she joined the conversation. Then Jillian and my mom came back and my dad left to go shower. It was fun to just have the girls talking. It's nice to talk to my family sometimes. I do miss seeing them sometimes, but I don't miss America. Something that no one in my family seems to understand. After talking to them, I played Animal Crossing for a bit more and then went to sleep.

And now I can relax and not feel guilty!
Abstract:
Exam and finishing classes!; Gelato with Karemah; Nap!; Animal Crossing/food/relaxation.
I had my final, hopefully ever, exam today! (I say hopefully because I want to do a PhD, which may or may not mean that I take more courses along the way.) I really lacked motivation to study last night, particularly since I don't need to get that high of a grade on the exam to get the grade I want in the class, and I kept falling asleep. As a result, I could not sleep last night. I guess that was a combination of taking a late nap, being excited that my coursework was almost over, and being hungry but not having any snack food or apples that I could eat to help me fall asleep. No matter what it was, I was exhausted when I woke up and I really hoped that it didn't mean that I would fall asleep during the exam.
The exam ended up going fine. Over half of it was multiple choice and I think that those all went fine. They were basically a matter of which sentence is or is not in the papers that the exam was based on. Overall it was good, but there were definitely a few questions that I just thought to myself, "WTF is this!" I talked to a couple of other students after the exam and they were just as confused as I was on those few, so I kind of wonder if anyone is going to get them right! But overall, it went well. I finished about a half hour early. She saw that a bunch of us were done, so she let us all leave quietly instead of making us stay, like she did for epi. I went outside of the classroom and waited for Karemah to finish. I passed the time by playing Animal Crossing. I can finally play it without feeling guilty for not studying!
When Karemah got out, we went to go get gelato. We decided last night that we needed to go get gelato to celebrate being done with classes. It's such an exciting thing! We went to Gelatissimo in the Canberra Centre. I decided to venture away from my usual raspberry and got the pannacotta with wild berries. It was really good. Karemah and I sat in some chairs nearby and just talked and hung out for a few hours. It's so awesome to be done with classes! But both of us have absolutely nothing to do for the next month or so. I obviously can't do anything before going home and she's applying for the graduate visa and they assess your skills and that can like 8 weeks after your results are official. We decided that we have to do stuff or we're going to go crazy, well crazier than we already are!
Since I was already at the Canberra Centre, I stopped by Supabarn before going home. I had almost no food at home. No apples, no yoghurt, no pasta. I basically had shredded cheese. I didn't have a chance to look up a recipe, but I did grab some food to hold me over until I actually do a proper shopping trip. My backpack already had a bunch of stuff in it from class notes for the exam, since it was open note, so I couldn't carry that much back, anyway.
When I got home, I played Animal Crossing for a bit and then I just crashed. I was so exhausted. I didn't set an alarm, since I didn't need to wake up to study or anything, and I really thought that it had to have been 11pm when I woke up, despite falling asleep at around 5-6. It was only 7:30. I was completely shocked by that when I read the time on my phone! I then was really hungry, so I ate and watched another episode of Sugar Dome. This one was Dr. Seuss cakes. They were awesome! Then I talked to Rohan on facebook to figure out where I wanted to go for a celebratory dinner, that my parents are paying for!, to celebrate getting top student in epi. I also decided to start over with my town on Animal Crossing. Now my town's name is Epiville. I like it because it is Epi as in epidemiology and it sounds like "evil" is in it! My fruit is also now peaches, which I like, instead of pears, which my old town had, which are one of the only fruits that I really don't like!

Just 13.25 more hours!
I slept. I studied. I got distracted from studying because I have no motivation. Those things all happened multiple times and in different order. That basically sums up my day. But, in 13.25-ish hours I will have finished all of my classes for my Master's degree!!!

*Happy dance!*
Abstract:
I have yet to start studying for Biostats; I GOT TOP STUDENT IN EPI!; A good end to tutoring; I'm exhausted.
I didn't spend today studying at all. Hopefully I won't regret that when I take my exam on Friday. About the closest to studying that I came was reading the titles of my papers for biostats and printing them. The printers in Davey were not working again, one just didn't print and the other was out of ink. But I told the girl at the reception desk and she said that I could just email them to her and she would print them for me. That was nice because I didn't want to have to leave Davey.
I didn't do much else before work. I did find out that my grade was in its final state on wattle and it had my rank as being one, but I didn't want to get over excited until I got some sort of confirmation from Ann-Maree that all of the tests were graded and I did, in fact, receive the top grade on the exam and in the course. I didn't get that confirmation until I was getting ready for work. She had finally put up a form post congratulating me! I was so proud of myself. At the beginning of the semester, I never thought it would be possible. I knew right from the first time reading my textbook that I loved it, but I thought that there was no way that I could get the top student, especially not at ANU. The students here are the best of the best! I especially never thought that it would happen when I did so poorly on the first online quiz. But, it got better and then I battled between the top and second place student. I was glad that all of my studying, and just having fun reading the epi book, paid off and I got top student and the prize of a one year student membership to the Australasian Epidemiological Association. Those will look great on my CV!
Then I went to work. I couldn't contain my joy and I was definitely doing a happy dance on the way there and at the bus stop. For the first hour of tutoring, I worked with the same girl that I always work with. She's the one that wrote that thing about me being the best person. That girl is a sweetheart. I'll miss her. The second hour, I worked with a different girl than I had ever worked with. She usually comes to tutoring on Monday, but this Monday was a public holiday, the Queen's Birthday. She was really smart and nice.
When I got home, I didn't do much either. I had grabbed some chicken at SPAR to make for dinner, but I got too hungry as it was cooking, so I ate the last of my pasta that I made a few nights ago. Then I started watching a sugar challenge show thing when I realised that SYTYCD was on and so I watched that, which leads me to right now. I'm really exhausted and don't feel like studying, so I'll probably head to bed at a pretty reasonable time and then wake up in the morning to do all of my studying for the Biostats exam, which is on Friday.
Kicking exam butt- Mulan style!
Abstract:
Let's get down to business... to defeat...the epi exam!; Venue change; cheating on an open book and notes exam?; weird dreams; tutoring; date night
I actually woke up feeling pretty good this morning. That's a pretty unusual thing for me when exams come around! Last night, I had asked Rohan to send me a text this morning to remind myself to calm down and that it didn't matter. He sent it, but I didn't end up needing the reminder. I actually had "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan stuck in my head as I got ready this morning. I felt prepared and that I was going to kick some epi exam butt! I even had the voice of my AP Calc teacher in high school saying that exams are "opportunities to succeed" and I actually saw it in that way. I never understood why he said that until this morning.
The exam was supposed to be held in the Balmain building. However, the venue was evidently changed. It was a good thing that I saw Karemah, Ayush, and Jodette walking into the Bob Douglas Lecture Theatre. It wasn't initially supposed to be there because it is stadium seating, but I guess there was no heat in the Balmain building. We would have died with no heat!
The exam went pretty well. It was open book and open note, so it really should have been fine. There were a couple of questions that I got tripped up on, but I talked to people after the exam and got the same answer as them, which was reassuring. However, not all of the exam was good. I saw two people cheating and then I heard that there was another person with them. They were talking during the test. I was in a moral dilemma of whether or not I should tell Ann-Maree. I decided to email her and I sent that when I got home tonight so I have yet to hear her reply. I hate feeling like a snitch, but it's not fair for them to cheat.
I got home and took a nap. It was the opposite of relaxing. I had a bad dream and ended up more tired than before. Actually, my dream consisted of a few things, but not all bad. My grandma Char was in it, which was weird because she died when I was 9 so I don't remember her that much. I really wish I could interpret my dreams. That part took place at my old house where I grew up and Jacki was driving my grandma to our house and Jillian also arrived in a van and it was like a family reunion or something. But then I wasn't able to be there because I had to go to work and I was freaking out because my clock was set wrong and I was two hours late, to my job that only lasts two hours! It was weird. Especially because I basically had to run to get to the bus stop on time, but the bus was late and subsequently I was late to tutoring.
Tutoring went fine. I was supposed to be on Read with Kids, but I ended up working with students. The first hour I helped a girl with studying for her biology test on genetics. I surprisingly still remembered it all, except the difference between codominance and incomplete dominance. I had to ask another tutor and she looked it up. It was hard to believe that it's already been almost five years since I've done genetics! The second hour I read with one girl before doing maths with another the rest of the time.
After tutoring, I went to Belconnen. Rohan and I moved date night to tonight since I still had to study for my exam last night. It's not that I was procrastinating with my studying but that the article on which the exam was based was not available until 24 hours before the exam. I rushed to get to the bus stop on time, but it ended up being five or so minutes late. Then the bus driver was driving like a crazy man and I was feeling car sick by the time I got off. This greatly confused Rohan when I told him. When I got to his place, he was making cake and chocolate/caramel things for his Bible study group thing. It was quite entertaining to watch him baking. There were many adventures involved with the icing, with the caramel sauce, just with everything.
When he was done, we went to Grill'd for dinner. It's a burger place in Westfield and I got the "Hot Mama" and of course I ordered it hot rather than mild. It was so messy, though. I do not have the ability to eat a hamburger of that height and it was falling all over my place. It was delicious, just incredibly messy. In retrospect, I should have taken off some of the lettuce and tomato in the beginning so that I would actually be able to bite into the whole thing at once!
Then we went back to his place. We downloaded Animal Crossing, which was part of my birthday present but was just released. While it was downloading, he cleaned and I played a game called Spelunky on his Xbox. It was pretty fun, but I kept dying. Actually that probably made it more fun when Rohan joined me because when you die, you become a ghost. That way I could help him by blowing objects around if he needed them to be moved and I could just watch him be awesome instead of me failing.
I came home and didn't do too much. I sent my email to Ann-Maree and I played on my DS. I actually played Animal Crossing for a little bit, but just to see what I was doing. I'll wait to actually play it, and probably make a new town, after my biostats exam is over. I can't wait for Friday, although I know that after that I'll just get really bored as I literally have nothing that I need to go to after that besides graduation as my job ends this week, since the older kids are on break and less tutors are needed, and it's not a long enough time before I leave to find another job. I just need to remember to actually leave my flat at least every other day so that I won't go stir crazy.

I spent the day studying, eating, and watching Sugar Dome on YouTube. My exam is tomorrow morning, so hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep and kick butt on the exam!

MUST. STUDY. *falls asleep*
I had the hardest time waking up today. I just couldn't do it. It wasn't that I was lazy. It's that I was EXHAUSTED! I was so exhausted that I kept falling back asleep and even in my dreams I was falling asleep. It was quite weird actually. One of them that I remember I was at Questacon and I left one of the exhibits to go and curl up in the corner. Then I decided to just walk home and go to bed or something. I woke up when I left. Clearly you're tired if you're dreaming of sleeping! I didn't really get out of bed until about 2, despite setting my initial alarm for 10-something. I just keep unwillingly falling back asleep!
I did manage to go down and print stuff for my exam and work on two of my Self-Assessed Exercises again to prepare for my exam. I'm getting nervous for this exam for a couple of reasons. 1) I hope that I'll get enough sleep the night before so that I can actually think straight during it. 2) I REALLY want to get top student. As of the 60% added so far, I am the top student. Although it now says 3 because I guess two people already took the exam, since that's the only explanation that makes sense and I know at least one person who already took it. I would certainly hope that they would have higher grades than I currently do if they took the other 40% of the course! But I know that it's going to be close between me and the other top few and this exam will decide!
I also went to CIF. This week was the last one, so I had to make sure that I could actually attend this one. For various reasons, I hadn't been able to attend the last four, which is a shame. Plus we get dinner there and I wasn't sure if I would have actually made myself dinner if I didn't go. It was nice to see everyone for one last time, since I'll be graduating. I ended up staying for church, although I wasn't sure if I was going to initially. I left right after, though. I was so cold, tired, and hungry.
I went home and just lay in my sleeping bag for about an hour. I felt internally cold. Like not my skin, but my bones were cold. Going in my sleeping bag is the only way that I've found to heat myself when that happens. It's like wrapping what you're cooking in the oven in aluminium foil. It makes it heat more internally! Yes, I just compared myself to food. Then I was just too hungry to not make food. I didn't have any that I could just heat up, so I finally made the recipe that I found online. Except that I was supposed to use broccoli, but it got mouldy so I couldn't. I also think that I kind of messed up the sauce, but it was still good. I also cut my finger while cutting the onion and I spilled milk all over the stove. I think it was just one of those days.
I watched a Food Network sugar challenge on youtube while I ate and that leads to me to right now with writing my blog from yesterday and today. Now I need to try to do some more studying and then getting to bed. Hopefully I can sort of fix my sleeping schedule so that I can wake up on Tuesday morning for my exam and actually be alert and focused!

A day to breathe
Abstract:
I'm tired. I spent the day with Rohan. I didn't study at all. It was just a day to breathe in the midst of study-central!
I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I think it may have been the eggs in my quiche because my stomach hurt in the same way the last time that I ate from that batch of eggs a day or so after eating them. I didn't get to sleep until way after 3. Then one of my flatmates decided to make breakfast at 9:15, which is highly unusually because I'm pretty sure it was Benedict and he's never awake that early. Anyway, that woke me up and I was unable to get back to sleep because I was so hungry. I went to SPAR to get bread because I didn't have anything that I could eat. Rohan ended up calling me saying that he was running late and so I told him to still do his shopping and then come to the city. That way I could lay down.
I didn't think that I'd fall into a very deep sleep and that I'd wake up to a text from him saying that he was leaving. Nope. I fell into a deep sleep, so it was a good thing that he called me when he got to the city! I hurried up and got dressed and then we went to go get his coffee things. We also went to EB because it's Rohan and he always has to go. He found Belle and the Beast bobbleheads, so he got those. I guess that I was supposed to keep one, but I left it at his place since it's just be going back there in a month or so for storage, anyway. We caught the bus back to Belconnen from the stop right outside of Flipside, another place that Rohan had to go when he was in the city. He also got gelato on our way to Flipside. He's so predictable sometimes!
We just sort of hung out at his place for the rest of the day and evening. We played Lego Lord of the Rings together. We spent some time on how-to wiki, which resulted with us clicking on links and ending up with middle school dating. It was quite funny. Rohan also made us dinner. I stole his lunch for tomorrow since he usually makes two servings and then saves the rest for lunch. While eating, we watched this one chef, but I don't remember his name, that Rohan has the DVDs for his cooking show. He had this Alice in Wonderland themed dinner party. We also talked a lot about why I'm stressed, which resulted in me crying because I REALLY don't want to go home and do this long distance thing again. It's going to suck!
A little before 11, I caught the bus home. A few stops later, Hui Ling got on the bus. It's always nice to see someone you know on the bus! Especially considering that a little after she got on, a bunch of people, that I'm assuming are UC students judging from where we were, came on the bus and they were really drunk and clearly going to the city to go out clubbing. I hadn't seen Hui Ling in ages, so it was nice to talk with her for a bit. She already finished all of her assessments. I'm jealous!
Then I got home and I was really tired, so I just went to sleep instead of writing my blog post then.

What is that beeping noise?
I mostly slept today. I had a really hard time waking up. I also studied. Also, maintenance came like 5 times today. One was because I lodged a complaint because I keep hearing a beeping, which evidently is not from the smoke detector. (It also can only be heard in my room I realised when it beeped after the guy left, so I think it may be coming from the room next to me since it doesn't sound like it's from my room.) All of the other times they came in, turned on the water in the kitchen sink, turned it off, and left. I'm not sure what the heck was up with that! I think that the water must have been turned off or something, though, because whenever I washed my hands the water always did the spurty thing when you first turn the faucet on after the water was off. I also showered. My hair was so knotty! Now I've just got to try to finish rereading/skimming my epi book tonight before going to bed.
06 June 2013
Thursday.
Study. Naps. Mario Kart. That's all my day has been. But I finally got 3 stars for Mario Kart! Also, I made quiche for the first time today. It actually turned out really good, despite looking kind of funky!
05 June 2013
Study. Work. SYTYCD.
I spent the morning studying. I went to work in the afternoon. I came home and watched SYTYCD. I also ate and played Mario Kart for bits throughout the day. Really exciting stuff, I know. Also, my toe is basically now fully healed with the exception of if I place a lot of pressure on the bottom part of my nail.
04 June 2013
Compulsory post.
I started studying. I didn't do very well, though, because I was exhausted. I kept falling asleep. Then I had work. I had read with kids during the second hour (which led to my first experience with Blinky Bill!), so I was able to leave on time and I went to the other bus stop that I hadn't tried before. I have to leave really quickly to have time to make it there. On my way there, there was a guy peeing on the side of a fence. I'm pretty sure that's still illegal in Australia to pee in public. He said something to me as I passed, but I had my headphones in and couldn't hear what he said. I got to the bus stop on time, which was good. It goes to the point where I had to change buses before when I took the other one, so I knew what I was doing. This one got me home 1/2 hour earlier and I didn't have to spend 40 minutes freezing at the bus stop. I'm going to try to leave early more often and try to catch that one rather than waiting! When I got home, I relaxed a bit before making dinner. Then I watched The Little Mermaid 2 while eating. Now I've got to do some more studying before going to bed.
03 June 2013
Studying starts tomorrow!
I did some final stuff that I had to do so that I'll be ready to start studying for epi and biostats like crazy over the next week. I had to do my laundry and go to the store. Since I had to go to the store, I took pictures of the city. I don't think that the city is all that exciting, but I love my new camera and that way I can show my family back home what I see on a regular basis.
Tonight was also date night. Apparently my phone was oddly not working because Rohan tried to text me and call me when he got here, but it wouldn't go through. Then he facebook messaged me. Luckily I was actually on facebook because I was sitting on my bed a few minutes before that. It was especially lucky since the doors of Davey close at 6, so he was waiting outside. It's a good thing he doesn't get cold.
We dropped off the stuff he brought me in my room. It was the birthday present that his grandma got me, since I forgot it at his place last week, and the other birthday present from his mum. It's a book: The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie. Apparently it's a children's book in Australia. I'm excited to read it. Ever since Rohan had his freakout of that Blinky Bill first edition, I wanted to understand Australian children's stories a little better.
Then we went to dinner. We went to P.J. O'Reilly's. It was pretty good. I got fish and chips. I realised that I kept eating past when I was full just because it was there. This is why I keep gaining weight over here. Seriously my clothes are getting pretty tight, but I don't have a scale so I can't calculate my BMI to see if it's finally to a healthy level.
After dinner, Rohan wanted to go get dessert at Meet Fresh, but he realised that he didn't have cash. I was trying to figure out if going back to the city or to the campus ATM would be faster. I decided to just take him to the campus ATM, although I have no idea if it was faster. Then we went back to Meet Fresh. Rohan made me try some of the taro from his dessert. It looked like the maple candies that I used to always get from the nature center in Holland when I was little. The texture was similar, too. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I still didn't particularly like it. But I didn't have to quickly eat something else to get the taste out of my mouth, so that's a start.
Then Rohan came up to my room to get my old DS and the sleeve of coffee that I got for him, since he won't have time to go to the Nespresso shop when it's open, because it's only in the Canberra Centre, until the weekend. I'm such a good girlfriend. :P Then he went home. I finally put my laundry away and watched Mulan 2. I was kind of laughing at the movie when the girls all fell in love with the guys over the 3 day journey across the country. Who does that? Oh wait... haha. Rohan got a kick out of that when I messaged him.
So now that I have food and stuff, tomorrow begins my actual studying for exams. One week until epi, then 3 more days until biostats, then 1 month and 5 days until graduation, and then I won't be a uni student any more. Or at least not until I do my PhD!

We'll just throw vegemite in with all of the other "---ites" in Joshua and see if they notice
I got my camera today! I was lazy getting up and didn't get dressed until early in the afternoon, but then I could go down and check my mail. I had that beloved parcel slip in there! At first I didn't think it was there because usually they place it so that you can see it standing up, but this was laying down. I was so excited to get my birthday present from my parents and sisters!
I brought it upstairs and realised that it said I had cookies in it. I opened it to find that my mom used a box of mac & cheese and some scotcheroos as packing material. So much better than packing peanuts! There's not much that beats scotcheroos from my mom! She also put my old DS in there. Rohan said a while back that the only DS that he didn't have was a DS lite and that he really should get one sometime. As someone who hates to spend money and will try to stop him whenever she can, I told him that my old DS was a DS lite and he could have it. She also sent me a notepad that says "crap" on it with a checklist of types of crap, a Rosa Parks stamp (I did a report for the 8th grade history fair on her), and a think geek sticker, which is probably from when she got her Mother's Day present from me.
I then spent the next couple of hours charging up my camera and reading some of the manual. When I figured it was charged enough and I got too sick of waiting, I unplugged it and started taking pictures. First, I set it up so that it would recognize me. You take your picture and then put in your name and birthday and it finds you in pictures and tags you and says how old you are to the day. Then I went to head out around town.
I saw some awesome birds out in the courtyard, so I went out there, then around Davey and toward the lake. Well, I though I was going to the lake. I somehow ended up going somewhere else. I have no idea how I got there, but I was somewhere else on campus. I was, however, going to correct way toward the lake because I eventually did find it. I basically just walked around for a couple of hours and took over 200 pictures, although I did delete some before posting. Here's my flickr set.
After walking around and taking pictures all afternoon, I was tired. I was also already late for CIF, so I just went home and took a nap before church. The title of this post comes from church. We are going through the book of Joshua and he lists all of these "----ites" such as the Hittities, Amorites, Canaanites, etc. Marcus was talking about them and then threw in the vegemites at the end. I thought it was funny, but only like half of the people laughed.
We also got some good news today at church. (Well apart from the "Good News") Dave, one of the pastors at Crossroads, was diagnosed with lung cancer, despite not being a smoker, about 18 months ago. They said it was stage 4 and he was basically given a death sentence because it had spread and it didn't look like there was any possibility of him surviving. He went through chemo, but they weren't able to do surgery. Then last week he went in for a CT scan and they couldn't find any trace of the tumour! Obviously that doesn't mean that he is cured as even the tiniest cancer cell that can't be seen with a CT scan can still regrow, but it looks more hopeful. God is good!
After church, I came home and relaxed. I was going to have Mulan be my double feature movie today, but I got distracted with uploading my pictures and talking to my mom. I only got through the first one and even then I wasn't really paying attention, but at least I've already seen that many times so it didn't really matter.

2 classes down, 2 to go!
I finished my policy essay today!!!!!!!!! That's about the only exciting thing. I forgot to go check my mail to see if my camera arrived before they closed. I have a feeling that it's down there, though. Just tormenting my thoughts. It was also raining today, which is fitting for the first day of winter. I hate winter and I hate rain. At least I didn't need to go outside and at least rain means that it isn't cold enough to snow. I also watched Pocahontas and Pocahontas 2. I watched both Lion Kings yesterday. I have never seen any of the sequels to the 90s movies before, so I decided to watch them. That was basically my entire day.
